FestiviTea Workshops
This two-hour workshop has been designed for the haiku novice. This beginning level workshop offers a brief history of haiku, including an introduction to three historical haiku masters – Basho, Buson and Issa. However, the primary focus of this workshop is to learn the components of a well-crafted haiku and apply this understanding while reading and discussing current English-language haiku. Sprinkled throughout the workshop are opportunities to practice writing haiku, and you will leave this workshop with at least three of your own original haiku!

Cottonwood Workshops
This three-hour workshop is designed for the beginning haiku enthusiast. Like the two-hour workshop, it provides a brief overview of haiku’s history and the lives of the masters. Students will learn the “rules” of a well-crafted haiku, and will read and discuss haiku from that place of understanding. What sets this workshop apart is the time available for students to develop their own haiku voice. The final hour of this workshop is dedicated to writing haiku and sharing it with the group. The number of haiku you write in that hour is up to you!
