Welcome to my website! I’m Rachel - an Air Force veteran and clinical psychologist, originally from Northern California. I currently live in Colorado, but I’ve had the pleasure of living in Texas, Delaware, and Germany during my service.

Creativity has always been a passion - whether it was theater, piano, writing, painting, drawing, working with clay, baking, gardening or crafting, I have always had at least one project going.  I took my first oil painting class as an adult in 2016, which inadvertently led to my discovery of Kobayashi Issa's haiku in 2020. It was love at first read!  Since then, I had the honor of having my haiku published in American and British haiku journals, and continue to study and write haiku.  

I started Second Spring Creations as a creative endeavor that would allow me to follow my passions, wherever they lead me. I hope to teach classes, make beautiful things and share my art. In addition to painting and writing, I also enjoy making candles, bath bombs, pine needle baskets and baked goods. I am an avid reader, a vegetable gardener and a koi pond enthusiast. I am always looking for - and finding - new projects and hobbies and adventures to embark on. I spend as much time as I can with my husband, kids, friends and dogs outdoors - kayaking, hiking, biking and exploring all the beauty Colorado has to offer. I plan on using Second Spring Creations me a means to share my excitement about creativity with other like-minded creatives, in Colorado and beyond. So welcome to my website, I hope you enjoy it!
